About us

John Cadogan is one of Australia’s leading motoring journalists. He’s a regular specialist automotive commentator on the Nine Network’s top-rating A Current Affair, Sydney’s radio 2UE (with Australian broadcasting icon Clive Robertson), and various ABC local radio stations. He also appears from time to time on Nine’s Today, 60 Minutes and Mornings With Kerri-Anne.

John Cadogan is also a drive logistics, media and risk management consultant to the Australian automotive industry.

In print, John is the features editor of Wheels magazine and a columnist on 4X4 Australia magazine. He’s an expert at measuring extreme vehicle performance limits, and he manages the technical and logistical aspects of Wheels’ track-based objective performance testing projects including the annual crash-avoidance capability ratings, the Wheels Handling Olympics and the Wheels Tyre Test. He also writes the Wheels fuel and environment column monthly. With a two-decade track record in automotive journalism, John Cadogan has become one of the country’s most outspoken road safety advocates.

He was selected by former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson to sit on the young driver training reference group panel, and has gone head-to-head in various high-profile forums with transport ministers, top cops, CEOs and government department heads over regulatory and consumer issues.

Cadogan is a degree-qualified mechanical engineer who became a motoring journalist because “engineers don’t get to drive that many Ferraris or Porsches, or ride with too many race drivers”. He fell in love with cars and driving at the age of “about five or six; possibly earlier”.
