Shelby's Super Snake 'Stang

Carroll Shelby has tweaked the output of the 2010 Ford Mustang to a massive 560kW. All you do is bring your base-model Shelby GT500 into his Las Vegas workshop, and part with $34,000. He'll do the rest.

Actually he has minions to do the heavy lifting these days. The bloke's 86, and the oldest living twin-organ transplant recipient in the world. And he's a living automotive icon. That's a given. He helped Lee Iacocca launch the first Mustang in 1964 and he's still playing variations on the same game. Which is probably why he's so good at it.

The octogenarian Texan told reporters recently: "I'm interested in making the company money so it can build all the crap I dream up."
